Summer is in! But that also comes with changes to your skincare routine to keep your skin healthy and glowing.

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf, but it can wreak havoc on your skin. The hot, humid weather can cause excess sweating and oil production, which can lead to acne breakouts and other skin problems. However, with the right skincare routine, you can keep your skin looking healthy and radiant all summer long. Here are some tips for summer skincare:

1. Protect Your Skin from the Sun

One of the most important things you can do for your skin in the summer is to protect it from the sun’s harmful rays. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every day, and reapply every two hours if you’re spending time outdoors. Wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes. If you aren’t sure where to start with the SPF- read our blog post all about suncreen! Did you know that the sun ages you more than anything, and can also cause cancer…lather up!

2. Keep Hydrated

Keep Hydrated – Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated. This is especially important in the summer when you’re more lik

ely to sweat and lose fluids. Staying hydrated can help prevent dry skin and keep your skin looking plump and youthful. If you are having trouble with hydration, recently had one to many to drink and are really feeling it, or have been outside a lot and feel the need for a hydration boost- take a look at our IV therapy service! IV therapy is the most efficient and effective way to hydrate your body- ASAP.

3. Exfoliate

To get rid of dead skin cells and reveal fresher, smoother skin, exfoliate your face and body regularly. Use a gentle scrub or a chemical exfoliant to avoid over-exfoli

ating, which can damage your skin. Want a truly luxurious exfoliation? Take a look at our salt facial service! If you are looking for a gentle at home exfoliating cleanser to use – try our medical grade skincare line that we offer, neocutis- Neo Cleanse . Neo Cleanse has been show to both hydrate and effectively exfoliate the skin, leaving you refreshed and glowing!

4. Moisturize

Even if your skin feels oily in the summer, it still needs moisture to stay healthy. Look for lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizers that won’t clog your pores. Apply moisturizer after cleansing and exfoliating to lock in moisture and keep your skin soft and supple. In our sunscreen guide (found here) we let you know which sunscreens are perfect under makeup, or by itself- great hydration and skin protection. Also, we offer amazing medical grade skincare by Neocutis, hyalis product is a beautiful moisturizer to help obtain a summer glow!  Set up a consultation with us so we can help create a skincare regimen just for you.

5. Face Masks

Use Face Masks – Face masks can help hydrate, soothe, and brighten your skin. Look for masks that contain ingredients like aloe vera, cucumber, and vitamin C to help combat sun damage and inflammation. Download your DIY Summer face masks below! If you’d rather do a facial- try our salt facial!

6. Avoid Heavy Makeup

Avoid Heavy Makeup – Heavy makeup can clog your pores and make your skin feel suffocated in the summer heat. Instead, opt for lightweight, oil-free makeup products, and use less of it to let your skin breathe. Try our Neocutis Journee Riche Cream– a tinted moisturizer with great coverage and SPF- you won’t even need the makeup!

7. Stay Cool

Finally, try to stay cool in the summer heat to prevent your skin from becoming inflamed. Take cool showers instead of hot ones, and avoid spending too much time in direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day. Use protective clothing if you are exercising outdoors, and wear a hat for head and face coverage. Also, sitting under an umbrella can be much cooler and keep you out of the sun but stay in the fun!
